Through his YouTube channel “Byeongse World,” Kim shared updates on his life, revealing the journey that led to his U.S. relocation and marriage. He pinpointed 2018 as a pivotal year; in April, his mother unexpectedly passed away in the U.S., but due to drama filming commitments, he couldn’t attend her funeral.
After wrapping up his project, Kim visited the States that October to pay respects at his mother’s resting place. During this trip, a friend set him up on a blind date where he first met his future wife. Recalling the moment, Kim said, “When she walked in, I saw a halo around her. It felt like destiny.”
Unable to forget her after returning to Korea, Kim made another trip to the U.S. Remarkably, he proposed just 90 days after their initial meeting. The couple exchanged vows in 2019, with Kim obtaining a green card through his wife, a U.S. citizen.
“I had the flexibility to live in either Korea or the U.S.,” Kim explained. “My wife’s work is ongoing, while my acting projects are more sporadic. That’s why I chose to move to America. However, I’d be grateful for any opportunity to act in Korea again.”
Kim Byeong-se made his acting debut in 1993 with the film “Western Road.” Since then, he’s built an impressive portfolio including notable works like “Heo Jun,” “Empress Myeongseong,” “All In,” and “Doctor Jin.”
