BTS has been tapped to headline the halftime show at the 2026 World Cup final.
On the 13th (local time), The New York Times and other international outlets reported that FIFA has selected BTS as a co-headliner for the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA CONCACAF World Cup final, scheduled for July 10 at the New York–New Jersey stadium.
BTS will perform as a co-headliner alongside legendary pop stars such as Madonna and Shakira.
Through their agency BigHit Music, BTS said they are honored to take the stage for a performance that brings the world together. \”We believe music is a universal language that conveys hope and unity,\” the group said. \”This World Cup allows us to share that message with a global audience and to help expand educational opportunities for children, making this moment especially meaningful.\”
The halftime show will be broadcast live around the world, with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin curating the artist lineup. The charity Global Citizen will handle production.
Blackpink member Lisa is set to perform at the opening ceremony on June 12 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. This marks the second time a K-pop artist has appeared at a World Cup opening ceremony, following BTS member Jungkook’s performance at the 2022 Qatar World Cup opening.
Additionally, global pop stars including Katy Perry, Future and Anitta are slated to perform in Canada, Mexico and other host countries.
