Shocking Death of Director Kim Chang-min: Outrage Over Brutal Assault Caught on CCTV

On the 11th, Heo posted a lengthy message on social media about the late director Kim Chang-min, who died after being assaulted by a group.

Heo wrote, \”They beat him to death in front of his young son, and CCTV captured the entire incident. The perpetrators did not apologize and even released an album. When public attention grew, one of them went on his Rekker YouTube channel and apologized. He did not apologize to the victim’s family. I don’t understand why this needs any investigation or trial. They should be killed.\”

He continued, \”Fire those who botched the initial investigation and remove them from the community at every level. The problematic Rekker YouTuber should face a tax probe, and there are people who would deserve to be whipped by the victim’s family in front of their own child. Some people refrain from doing wrong even without being told; others barely stop themselves. Some won’t cross the line whether there is a law or not; others cross it and justify it as legal. Protecting the community is the role of the former. They are among the last sentinels we have. As for the latter, my current thought is they should all be killed.\”\”

He went on, \”Are people pretending not to know, or simply hoping this will blow over? I side with the victim no matter what, and I am outraged. Because society tacitly supports this and because some people treat it as a boon, communities—from schools to restaurants—are being torn apart. Anyone who had the authority to stop this and did not is guilty. Look at how things are unfolding. Is this normal?\”

Earlier, last October, director Kim Chang-min argued with a group while dining at a restaurant in Guri, Gyeonggi Province. He was subjected to a group assault, suffered a brain hemorrhage, and later died. Kim donated his organs, giving new life to four people. The full circumstances of the case only became public about four months later, prompting widespread public outrage.
