On the 2nd, Yongsan Police Station in Seoul said it released two men in their 20s and one man in his 50s who had been arrested the previous night at about 8:30 p.m. on suspicion of obstructing official duties.
They had taken part in a rally the evening before on the grounds in front of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education’s new building in Yongsan, demanding the reinstatement of Ji Hye-bok, who was reassigned after reporting sexual assault at her school.
During the rally, participants attempted to erect tents on the site. Education office staff and police moved to stop them, and scuffles broke out between demonstrators and officers.
Police said they will continue investigating the precise sequence of events.
