Songdo First Dental Clinic in Incheon announced on March 27 that it delivered supplies to Haesung Orphanage through a scrap-gold donation, continuing its community giving efforts.
As more medical institutions expand their social contributions beyond clinical care, donations that repurpose materials created during treatment are drawing attention. The scrap-gold approach converts leftover materials from procedures into funds; experts say it matters because it establishes a sustainable model of giving.
On March 26, Songdo First Dental Clinic visited Haesung Orphanage to deliver the donated items. This is the third consecutive year of the initiative. This year’s contribution combined last year’s scrap-gold proceeds with personal funds from Clinic Director Park Ki-eun. The clinic coordinated with the orphanage in advance and prioritized items the facility actually needs.
Founded in 1984, Haesung Orphanage provides care for children under six who require protection. Orphanage staff welcomed the medical team and expressed gratitude for the continued support.
Clinic Director Park Ki-eun said, “Scrap gold naturally arises during treatment, but it can be a resource that benefits society. We incorporated the orphanage’s input to ensure the donated items are practical for the children’s daily lives.” She also thanked the patients who contributed to the donation and pledged to continue community-connected giving.
