On the morning of the 10th, Floor Spokesperson Kim Hyun-jung held a press conference at the National Assembly. She reported that Kim Min-soo, a senior member of the People Power Party, stated at a debate co-hosted by conservative YouTube channels that “we cannot win local elections with Yoon Again.”
Kim questioned the party’s true stance, citing conflicting reports. She noted that according to Jeon Han-gil, Representative Jang had conveyed through Senior Member Kim that it was not a complete severance but a strategic separation for the election.
She pointed out that when Mr. Jeon demanded a response from Representative Jang within three days, the People Power Party leadership dismissively replied, “There is nothing to respond to. Interpret it as you wish.” Kim asked if this was an appropriate way to handle the party’s direction and values.
Kim emphasized that the public is asking critical questions: “Are you cutting ties with Yoon Suk Yeol? Will you continue to dodge the issue? Or are you planning to deceive voters by feigning a break from Yoon Suk Yeol to gain votes?”
She insisted that the party must officially address its relationship with Yoon Suk Yeol, its stance towards the Yoon Again faction, and its position on unfounded election conspiracy theories.
Kim remarked that the public is dismayed by the party’s harsh treatment of internal criticism while capitulating to far-right YouTubers. She stressed that this ambiguous balancing act is no longer effective, asserting that a legitimate political party should prioritize the people over far-right YouTube channels.
She concluded by stating that the People Power Party’s only appropriate response now is to declare, “The martial law was wrong, and we will sever ties with the Yoon Again faction.” Kim emphasized that this must be demonstrated through concrete actions.
