“Golden,” the original song from Netflix’s animated feature K-pop Demon Hunters, won the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the Grammy Premiere Ceremony in Los Angeles on the 1st (local time).
The single reached No. 1 on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the U.K. Official Singles Chart Top 100, propelled by the film’s international success. The award is presented to the song’s credited songwriters.
Songwriters EJAE (Lee Jae), Teddy, 24 and IDIO (Lee Yoo-han, Kwak Jung-gyu and Nam Hee-dong) all received Grammys for their work on the track. While recording engineer Hwang Byung-joon and Korean‑American artist Youngin have won Grammys in the past, this marks the first time K-pop songwriters or producers have been honored with the award.
After the win, 24 dedicated the accolade to his mentor and friend Teddy—often called a “pioneer of K‑pop”—who was unable to attend.
In the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, nominees included Blackpink’s Rosé with “Apartment” and Cats Eye’s “Gabriella.” The award went to Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for their rendition of “Defying Gravity” from the Wicked soundtrack.
