The Daegu Culture and Arts Center will host the 2026 Daegu Municipal Arts Troupes Citizen Happiness Concert at the Kolon Outdoor Music Hall for five days, from Wednesday, May 27 through Sunday, May 31.
The free series offers residents a chance to experience high-caliber performing arts in everyday life. Six municipal ensembles from the Daegu Culture and Arts Center will perform, presenting a range of genres—classical music, gugak (traditional Korean music), choral works, dance, and musical theater. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
On opening night, May 27, the Daegu Municipal Gugak Orchestra will take the stage. The program includes the gugak orchestral piece Selseontar (Awakened Prairie), the taepyeongso concerto Hojuk Pungnyu, and orchestral reinterpretations of folk and popular songs. Notably, Miss Trot 3 contestant Gwak Ji-eun will appear alongside traditional vocalist Lee Eun-bi and folk singer Lee Eun-ja for a program that blends tradition with popular music.
On May 28, the Daegu Youth Choir and the Daegu Municipal Theater Company perform. The choir will present familiar selections such as “Stars in the Night Sky” and “Candy” in clear, polished harmony, while the theater company stages a musical gala featuring local performers Lee Min-ju, Jo Seong-min, and Seolhwa.

On May 29, the Daegu Philharmonic Orchestra presents a program of well-known classical and film music, including the Triumphal March from Verdi’s Aida and the Raiders March from the Indiana Jones films. Soprano Yoon Seong-hoe and tenor Noh Seong-hoon will perform opera arias, and pianist Ilya Rashkovsky will join the orchestra for Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
On May 30, the Daegu City Choir teams up with the 2nd Operations Command Military Band for a special joint concert. Expect choral and wind-band arrangements of popular musical and film numbers, including selections from Mamma Mia, Jekyll & Hyde, Hero, and The Greatest Showman.
The festival closes on May 31 with a joint finale from the Daegu Municipal Gugak Orchestra’s Korean dance troupe and the Daegu City Dance Company. The gugak dance troupe will showcase traditional dances such as Taepyeongmu, Hwaseonmu, the Jindo Drum Dance, and the Fan Dance. The Daegu City Dance Company will present “Urban Canon,” a modern collaboration with DJ ANOMY. Admission is free. Inquiries: 053-430-7656.
