[Sports Today reporter Song O-jung] Today marks the third anniversary of the death of Hyunmi (born Kim Myung-sun).
On April 4, 2023, at about 9:47 a.m., emergency responders found Hyunmi collapsed at her home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. She was taken to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead. She was 85.
The Korea Singers Association oversaw the funeral, with the association’s auditor, Seo Su-nam, serving as chair of the funeral committee.
Hyunmi began her career in 1957 as a dancer for the U.S. Eighth Army. She went on to record many beloved hits, including \”Night Fog,\” \”Leave Without a Word,\” \”The Face I Miss,\” \”Lover,\” and \”If You Ask Why I Live,\” earning widespread affection over a long career.
