[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] On MBN’s Kim Joo-ha’s Day & Night, host Kim Joo-ha shifted into overdrive during a lyrics discussion with Namjin about his new song, reducing the studio to laughter.

The 17th episode of MBN’s Kim Joo-ha’s Day & Night, airing on the 21st, spotlights music-industry mainstay Namjin and trot standout Jo Hang-jo. Known on the show for her blunt takes on marriage, Kim was talking about Namjin’s new song While You Live, which frames a couple whose relationship alternates between hot and cold. When she quipped, “Try being married for ten years,” Namjin shot back, “You don’t have to make it to ten years,” prompting a wave of laughter. Audiences will be watching to see how Namjin responds to Kim’s bold remark.

Jo Hang-jo also surprised viewers by revealing his real age live on the program for the first time. Addressing persistent rumors that he had been hiding his age, he insisted, “I never meant to deceive anyone. I even asked my manager to correct it on portal sites, but it still shows the same information.” He admitted he had never publicly disclosed his age before, then revealed it on air, drawing attention to the actual age of the famously youthful Jo Hang-jo.

Meanwhile, Namjin, who grew up in a well-to-do family in Mokpo, opened up about the painful history with his father, who opposed his decision to become a singer. Namjin said he lied to his father, telling him he was attending university in Seoul while secretly pursuing a music career, until one day a television appearance exposed the truth. Despite his father’s harsh rebuke—”You rascal. Are you so idle you want to become a street performer?”—Namjin kept performing. He added with sadness that his father, who had been hospitalized, passed away three months after that incident and never witnessed his son’s rise to fame.

Jo Hang-jo also shared an emotional account of his own strained relationship with a father who opposed his music career. From a family with strong Christian roots, Jo said his father was strongly against him becoming a singer. He revealed, “My father passed away while working at a nighttime establishment,” and lamented that due to a curfew at the time he couldn’t get to the hospital and missed his father’s final moments—a regret he still carries.

Jo also spoke candidly about the hardship of being separated from family in the United States because of his career. He recalled the day his son was in kindergarten: the child turned to the bus window, realized his father had left, and cried. Jo’s continued remorse and apology to his son added a poignant layer to his family story.

Finally, when asked which younger artists he’d like to collaborate with, Namjin offered a meaningful wish: he wondered what it would have been like to perform alongside legends like Na Hoon-a or Cho Yong-pil, underscoring hopes for a career that continues to shine.

MBN’s issue-driven talk show Kim Joo-ha’s Day & Night presents itself as a new-concept program blending day and night, cool-headedness and passion, information and emotion. It airs every Saturday at 9:40 PM.
