[Sports Today reporter Im Si-ryeong] JYP Entertainment’s rookie boy band KickFlip showcased a noticeably stronger stage presence during promotions for their pre-release single, \”Twenty.\”
KickFlip will officially release their new mini album, My First Kick, on April 6. Ahead of the album, they dropped the single and music video for \”Twenty\” on March 9 to build momentum for the comeback. The group kicked off music-show promotions on Mnet’s M Countdown on March 12, followed by KBS2’s Music Bank (March 13), MBC’s Show! Music Core (March 14), SBS’s Inkigayo (March 15), and MBC Every1 and MBC M’s Show! Champion (March 18).
The six members captivated viewers with bright, energetic choreography performed with handheld microphones. Fresh off their first fan concert — the 2026 KickFlip FAN-CON From KickFlip, To WeFlip, a 12-show run across five cities — the group displayed a tightened stage command during the pre-release promotions, increasing anticipation for the full album.
Fans who watched the \”Twenty\” performances praised the group on social platforms, noting that they seemed more polished after the fan concert and that the stage felt full despite their rookie status. Many singled out the handheld-mic staging as a smart choice, with comments ranging from \”I’m excited for the main promotions\” to \”The brilliance of being 20 is overwhelming,\” and some joked they’ve watched the \”all members with handheld mics\” video so many times it’s worn out.
\”Twenty\” is driven by a brisk, forward-moving production and frames the complicated, bittersweet thrill of a new beginning in its lyrics. Youngest member Donghyun contributed to the songwriting on the track, following his work on My First Flip’s \”It Was a Secret That I Had a Nightmare\” and the group’s first terrestrial music-show chart-topper, \”The First Song I Sing,\” helping to shape the song’s earnest emotional tone.
Since debuting with Flip It, Kick It!, and across follow-ups — mini 2 Kick Out, Flip Now!, mini 3 My First Flip, and the digital single From KickFlip, To WeFlip — KickFlip members have consistently been credited on their releases. For the new record, the group participated in writing and producing every track, consolidating their musical identity.
Meanwhile, KickFlip’s mini 4 My First Kick and its title track, \”I Want to Catch Your Eye,\” will be available on streaming platforms at 6 p.m. on April 6.
