[Sports Seoul | Reporter Lee Dong-yoon] Lim Chang-jung captivated listeners with his wit and live performance during his appearance on ‘Midday Hope Song’ after a four-year hiatus.
During the broadcast of MBC FM4U’s ‘Midday Hope Song with Kim Shin-young’ on the 10th, Lim Chang-jung greeted his audience, saying, “I’m back on ‘Midday Hope Song’ after about four years.”
He also shared updates about his recent overseas concerts in the United States and Australia. Notably, he expressed awe about performing at the Sydney Opera House, saying, “I’ve always just taken photos from the outside, so it’s surreal that I actually performed inside. It’s an experience I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.”
Lim Chang-jung also dished on his return to music shows after a three-year break. He quipped, “It had been so long that when I sang early in the morning, I struggled to hit the high notes.” However, he proved his vocal prowess with an impromptu acapella performance. Impressed, Kim Shin-young remarked, “Only Lim Chang-jung thinks he’s struggling; we can’t tell at all.”
The singer also revealed the backstory of his new single ‘Crazy Guy.’ Lim Chang-jung shared, “People are calling it part of my self-deprecating ballad series, which includes ‘I’m a Guy,’ ‘Fool,’ ‘Dummy,’ and now ‘Crazy Guy.’ I even toyed with the idea of releasing a song titled ‘I’m a Guy, Fool, Dummy, Crazy Guy.'” He added, “I considered ‘Guy Guy Guy’ as a title, but ultimately settled on ‘Crazy Guy.’ Believe it or not, I only needed two takes to record it.”
When asked about his current obsessions, he replied, “I’m not fixated on just one thing. I’m passionate about exploring various interests.” Looking ahead, he expressed his ambitions, saying, “This year and next, I want to try my hand at filmmaking and also appear in an MBC drama.”
Meanwhile, Lim Chang-jung’s new track ‘Crazy Guy’ has been dominating major music charts since its release, further cementing his status as a ballad powerhouse. ldy17@sportsseoul.com
