K-pop sensations ENHYPEN and aespa have solidified their popularity in Japan, each earning coveted ‘Platinum’ certifications from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
The RIAJ announced on the 10th that ENHYPEN’s seventh mini-album ‘THE SIN: VANISH’ and aespa’s Japanese debut single ‘Hot Mess’ have both achieved Gold Disc Platinum status.
Both releases surpassed the 250,000 unit shipment threshold in January, meeting the criteria for Platinum certification.
The RIAJ’s certification system is based on cumulative monthly shipments, with Gold awarded for over 100,000 units, Platinum for over 250,000, Double Platinum for over 500,000, and Triple Platinum for exceeding 750,000 units shipped.
Adding to the K-pop industry’s impressive showing in Japan, SEVENTEEN members DK and Seungkwan’s unit mini-album ‘SOYA GOK’ and rookie group AILET’s Japanese debut single ‘Toki Yo Tomare’ both received Gold certifications, further cementing the genre’s stronghold in the Japanese music market.
