Genesis GV70 Electrified and BMW iX3 Launch Simultaneously
Luxury Electric SUV Competition Heats Up
Face-Off on Features, Range and Technology

Genesis has sharpened its position in the luxury electric SUV segment with the 2027 GV70 Electrified.
The GV70 now comes standard with Ergo Motion seats to cut driver fatigue on long trips, and the built‑in dashcam recording window has been expanded sixfold to a maximum of 120 hours.
Genesis also added new interior and exterior color options to boost perceived quality, and restructured option packages around customer preferences to simplify choices and sharpen price competitiveness.
The GV70 starts at ₩75.8 million (about $56,850) and, with added options, can approach the ₩90 million range (roughly $67,500).
BMW Counters with the Next‑Generation iX3

BMW Korea has opened preorders for the next‑generation electric SUV, the all‑new iX3, as it pushes to capture market share.
As the first production model on the Neuer Klasse platform, the iX3 pairs a clean new design with an upgraded digital experience and advanced electrification systems.
Notably, engineers achieved a low drag coefficient of 0.24 and equipped the cabin with a futuristic, driver‑focused layout.
Range and Performance Divide Draws Attention

The iX3 is powered by a dual‑motor setup producing 469 hp, sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds (0–62 mph) and claims up to 805 km on the WLTP cycle (about 500 miles).
Its 800‑volt architecture supports ultra‑fast charging, adding roughly 372 km (about 231 miles) of range in a 10‑minute charge.
The GV70 Electrified, meanwhile, packs a strong dual motor rated at up to 490 hp and has a certified single‑charge range of up to 423 km (about 263 miles).
Although the GV70 debuted several years earlier, Genesis adopted an 800‑volt architecture early, so its performance competes closely with the iX3.
Luxury Electric SUV Competition Kicks Into High Gear

The two models attack the market with different strengths.
The GV70 Electrified emphasizes luxury and driver convenience, while the iX3 pitches range and advanced technology as its main differentiators.
Pricing overlaps: the iX3 is positioned around ₩86.9–91.9 million (about $65,175–$68,925), while GV70 transaction prices typically sit in the ₩80 million band (roughly $60,000), placing them in direct competition.
Industry observers say this head‑to‑head could play a major role in determining the future balance of South Korea’s luxury electric SUV market.
