The automotive world is buzzing about King Charles III’s choice of wheels for his weekend church service. The British monarch opted for the Eletre, Lotus’s groundbreaking all-electric SUV, marking a significant moment for the storied sports car manufacturer. In true British fashion, the King quipped to onlookers that the vehicle was “quiet but deadly,” clearly impressed with his new ride.
His Majesty’s clever wordplay speaks volumes about the Eletre’s capabilities. The “quiet” nod refers to the whisper-smooth operation typical of electric powertrains, while “deadly” is a nod to Lotus’s legendary handling prowess. Despite its size, the Eletre doesn’t compromise on the marque’s sporting heritage. Leveraging F1-derived technology, it offers the agility of a much smaller vehicle, effectively blending SUV practicality with sports car DNA. The King’s choice also aligns with his well-known environmental advocacy, showcasing a vehicle that marries eco-consciousness with driving excitement.
Capitalizing on this royal endorsement, Lotus Korea is rolling out a special February promotion to make the Eletre more accessible to local enthusiasts. With a starting price of 144.9 million KRW (approximately 108,675 USD), interested buyers can experience this regal ride firsthand at the flagship showroom on Dosan-daero in Seoul’s upscale Gangnam district.
