Park Na-rae has been embroiled in controversy since December of last year, facing allegations of mistreating her manager and illegal drug use, which led to her hiatus from broadcasting. The situation escalated when two former managers filed complaints, seeking damages and initiating a real estate provisional seizure for approximately 100 million KRW (about 75,000 USD).
Further fueling the controversy are claims that Park received illegal drug treatments from an unlicensed individual outside of medical facilities, including in officetels. Additionally, criticism mounted last month over her unregistered status in the cultural and artistic planning industry.
It was revealed that AN Park, the one-person agency founded by Park Na-rae, had not officially registered as a planning business. Despite the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism operating a registration guidance period since September of last year, AN Park reportedly delayed registration since its establishment in 2018.
Representatives for Park Na-rae cited a lack of mental and practical capacity, explaining that even if they had registered during the controversy, an immediate return to broadcasting would have been unlikely. They assured that AN Park remains operational and will follow necessary procedures as needed.
In December of last year, Park Na-rae announced her decision to suspend her activities as a comedian, stating, “I will diligently engage in the legal processes, and I will not make any further statements at this time.”
