Escape the Heat: Why Hokkaido Is the Ultimate Summer Destination

Modetour has rolled out a summer campaign called “Hokkaido: Summer Travel No. 1.” With cooler temperatures than Seoul, Hokkaido is an ideal escape from the heat. Seasonal standouts include the lavender fields of Furano and Biei at their peak from mid-July to early August, the lively Sapporo Beer Festival, and the Lake Toya fireworks celebration.

The campaign reflects how summer travel to Hokkaido is becoming more purpose-driven—travelers now pick trips by theme like flower viewing, hot springs, food, golf, or flexible indie itineraries. Modetour bundles lavender destinations such as Furano, Biei, and Sounkyo with hot-spring towns like Toya, Noboribetsu, and Jozankei, and offers choices across tiers: Modu Signature, High Class, Concept Tours, Golf, airtel (air+hotel), and departures from regional airports.

The highlight is a 3-night, 4-day “Stay in Biei” package on Eastar Air. It lets you base in Biei and take your time exploring Furano and Biei’s top sites. Key stops include Farm Tomita, Shikisai Hill, the Blue Pond, Patchwork Road, Shirahige Falls, Otaru, and Sapporo. The package also includes local meals and a dinner at a hot-spring hotel.

Yellow Balloon is showcasing an Eastern Europe package on its Yellow LIVE stream. Long-haul travelers today aren’t just hunting for the lowest fare—they care about itinerary design and included perks. Despite pressures from fuel costs and exchange rates, Yellow Balloon tailored this product to preserve selective long-haul demand by improving transit convenience and stacking on benefits.

The live broadcast will air at 2 p.m. on May 6 via Yellow Balloon’s website and app. The package is a 7-night, 9-day tour covering the Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary. It uses Asiana Airlines direct flights to Prague or Budapest, and departures run from May through October to capture summer peak travel and the Korean Chuseok holiday demand.

The itinerary includes 11 major Eastern European stops—Prague, Cesky Krumlov, Vienna, Hallstatt, and Budapest among them. Highlights feature Prague Castle, an interior tour of Schönbrunn Palace, and evening walking tours in Prague and Budapest. Customers who book during the live broadcast receive perks such as waived driver and guide fees, bonus points, and card discounts.
