Seosan City is bringing its charm to the 2026 Taean International Horticultural Therapy Expo with its playful tourism mascots, Gati and Oshu.
On May 1, the city announced it is taking part in the expo and is operating a promotional booth on-site.
According to the city, roughly 4,000 visitors stopped by the Seosan booth during the five-day opening period from April 25 to April 29. The exhibit spotlights local draws like Garorim Bay, Samgilpo, Haemi Fortress, and a Hanwoo cattle ranch.
Gati and Oshu are Seosan’s tourism characters, inspired by the spotted seal—a protected species found in Garorim Bay. Inside the booth, a character photo zone invites children and families to take keepsake photos.
Visitors are receiving mascot hairpins, pocket mirrors, and tourism brochures as part of the city’s outreach. Throughout the expo, Seosan staff will be sharing details about the city’s top attractions and practical visiting information.
The booth also highlights regional specialties. Through the booth’s closing on May 8, Seosan is showcasing its six-clove garlic, ginger hangwa (traditional confections), eoriguljeot (salted fermented oysters), and locally grown rice.
A city official said, “We’re using Gati and Oshu to introduce Seosan’s tourist resources in a friendly, approachable way. We hope the expo will help raise awareness of Seosan’s attractions and specialties, including Garorim Bay.”
