Top 4 Must-Visit Destinations for Children’s Day 2026 in South Korea

Daniel Kim Views

In May, when the leaves turn lush and green, many parents feel more anxious than celebratory.

That’s because Children’s Day—the holiday kids count down to all year—is coming. In 2026 it falls on a Tuesday, so if you take Monday off you can enjoy up to a four-day long weekend. Popular hotels and stays are already getting booked up fast.

Worried you’ll spend a lot and the kids won’t have fun? Or that the trip will just mean crowds and stress? If you’re stuck picking a destination, I’ve handpicked four cities—each with a different vibe—that make perfect Children’s Day getaways.

Yongin, Gyeonggi Province

Yongin is basically South Korea’s go-to family playground. Everland, the country’s largest theme park, is here—and for kids it’s pure magic. In May the park blooms with spring flower festivals and spectacular parades. Lately, the panda family has been a huge hit, and the Panda World tour—where families can catch sight of the adorable panda crew—has become a must-do.

If high-speed rides aren’t your thing, the Korean Folk Village is a wonderful alternative. It offers hands-on traditional games and performances that let kids step into history—an entertaining, educational experience rolled into one.

And don’t miss the Gyeonggi Children’s Museum. As Korea’s first standalone children’s museum, it’s packed with sensory, interactive exhibits for toddlers through elementary-age kids—ideal for a fun, playful learning day.

Chuncheon, Gangwon Province

Just a short trip from the Seoul metro area, Chuncheon shot up the family-travel charts after LEGOLAND Korea opened. LEGO-obsessed kids will love this park—especially with a stunning lake as the backdrop.

The park has gentle rides for little ones and creative workshops where kids can build with LEGO, so there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Chuncheon offers more beyond the park. On Nami Island, kids can run across wide lawns and meet friendly animals like ostriches and rabbits. Active families can ride the Samaksan lake cable car for sweeping views of Uiam Lake or hop on a Gangchon rail bike to zip along riverside trails in the fresh air.

And when hunger hits, a hearty serving of dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) is the perfect way to refuel—so parents leave happy too.

If you think Gyeongju is only for school trips, think again. The city has reinvented itself as a thrilling playground for kids. Gyeongju World serves up high-adrenaline rides and a dedicated kids’ zone called Wizard Garden where younger children can play safely.

As evening falls, stroll around Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond under twinkling lights for a totally different, romantic side of the city.

For kids fascinated by animals and insects, the Bird Park at Gyeongju Donggungwon is a standout: think shoulder-perching parrots and hands-on feeding experiences that create unforgettable memories.

The National Gyeongju Museum’s children’s section turns Silla history into playful, interactive exhibits that make the past come alive—perfect for parents who want a mix of education and entertainment.

If your family is craving a relaxed nature escape, head to Taean on the west coast. In early May the World Tulip Flower Festival paints the fields with tens of thousands of tulips—an almost storybook backdrop that’s perfect for family photos.

After admiring the blooms, visit nearby Kkotji Beach for mudflat activities where kids can dig for crabs and clams and learn about coastal ecosystems firsthand.

For budding paleontologists, the Anmyeondo Jurassic Museum is a must-see. Life-size dinosaur models and fossil displays are sure to spark wonder. You can also explore Cheongsan Arboretum or Chollipo Arboretum to wander shady forest paths and inhale fresh, restorative air.

Far from city noise, Taean’s waves and birdsong make it an ideal spot for families to unwind on Children’s Day.
