Ulsan’s Jung-gu district announced on the 14th that the Taehwa River Maduhee Festival Organizing Committee finalized the “2026 Taehwa River Maduhee Festival basic plan.”
According to the district, this year’s festival will run June 19–21 along the Taehwa River and around Seongnam-dong under the slogan “Escape the Everyday, Dive into the Taehwa River.”
The event will feature more than 30 programs across themes such as official events, flagship programs, Taehwa River areas, performance areas, participation areas, Dongheon area, Maduhee area, and a children’s area.
The committee will introduce new river-based activities, including dragon-boat rides and races, a water-stage fashion show, water-yoga demonstrations, horseback-riding experiences, and a song festival for foreign residents.
Specifically, official events will include an opening ceremony and a closing ceremony. Flagship programs will include the festival’s signature large rope pull, the national Taehwa River Maduhee dance competition, and a Dano wrestling tournament.
The organizers said they will change the rope-pull format this year. Instead of having all participants pull and move the rope together, team captains from the East and West and dance performance groups will handle the rope movements.
Park Moon-tae, head of the Taehwa River Maduhee Festival Organizing Committee, said, “We will do our best to establish the Taehwa River Maduhee Festival as a leading national summer festival.”
