The Public — Reporter Oh Hong-ji: Danyang County is drawing spring visitors with an evening festival that blends cherry blossoms, dazzling lights and live performances.
The county says it will hold the 2026 Danyang River Cherry Blossom Night Tour from April 10 to 12, a three-day celebration along the riverside promenade in Sangjin-ri, Danyang-eup.
Now in its fourth year, the event carries the theme “A Spring Night Trip Along the Moonlit Cherry Blossom Path.”
Organizers will light up the Danyang riverside cherry blossom trail to create a moodier, more romantic spring scene. The program pairs illuminated displays with performances, hands-on activities and food stalls to create a true nighttime tourism experience.
The festival covers roughly a 300 meters (about 984 feet) stretch from the Rose Tunnel entrance on the Sangjin-ri waterfront to the Geopark Visitor Center.
It runs nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., when lights along the blossom-lined river walkway set a romantic spring-evening vibe.
The Sangjin-ri waterfront features an extended cherry blossom path centered on the festival area, so visitors can enjoy scheduled programs and take leisurely strolls along the river to soak up the season.
By day, the blossoms feel bright and cheerful; by night, the lighting casts an enchanting mood. Both inside and around the festival area are likely to draw spring-night visitors.
This year’s night tour goes beyond simple blossom viewing—organizers have significantly expanded interactive programs to encourage visitors to linger.
Live busker performances will heighten the spring-evening atmosphere, while a variety of hands-on activities and food booths will boost the festival’s appeal.
A pop-up market showcasing unique items and a participatory “Cherry Blossom Karaoke” invite visitors of all ages to join in, delivering lively nighttime entertainment.
The county plans to sharpen Danyang’s spring-night tourism brand by combining cherry blossoms, illuminated nightscapes and cultural programming.
Officials expect these nighttime stay programs to steer visitors naturally toward local businesses, helping to revive spring tourism and energize the regional economy.
“This event, which pairs the Danyang riverside cherry blossoms with nighttime lighting, will make Danyang’s spring nights truly unforgettable,” a county official said. “We will continue to develop distinctive, seasonally focused tourism programs to strengthen Danyang’s appeal as a stay-oriented destination.”
