[MyDaily = Reporter Kim Jong-guk] Juventus’ pursuit of South Korean center-back Kim Min-jae is drawing renewed attention.
German outlet FCB Inside reported on June 3 that Juventus want Kim but face a number of obstacles. Bayern Munich could be open to a sale, but only if Juventus presents acceptable terms. Juventus is targeting Kim this summer, but must prepare an offer capable of convincing Bayern.
FCB Inside added that Bayern would be willing to negotiate at a reported fee of €30 million (about $32.1 million), but Juventus’ finances have been strained by missing out on Champions League revenue. The outlet also noted that Kim is among Bayern’s top earners, so a move to Juventus would likely require him to accept a wage reduction.
German sports daily Sport reported last month that Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti specifically requested Kim’s signing, identifying the defender he coached at Napoli as a top transfer priority.
Meanwhile, German site SPOX wrote that Kim has become an important figure under Bayern coach Vincent Kompany. The report described him as professional and committed, noting he has never caused locker-room friction even when used off the bench. SPOX highlighted Kim and Leon Goretzka as examples of effective squad rotation. If Kim remains, Kompany keeps an experienced center-back, and Kim is expected to play a key promotional role on Bayern’s Asia tour in August, which includes stops in South Korea and Hong Kong. Taken together, those signs suggest Kim is likely to stay at Bayern next season despite the transfer speculation.
