Is Lee Jung-hoo’s Injury Serious? Latest Updates on His Status with the San Francisco Giants
Daniel Kim Views
Lee was left off the Giants’ starting lineup for their road game in the 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) season against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, on the 20th (Korean time).
San Francisco started Harrison Bader in center field and Will Brennan in right that day.
In the previous day’s game against Arizona, Lee went 1-for-2 before being removed prior to the bottom of the fourth inning. The early substitution prompted concern about his condition.
Local outlets reported Lee experienced a back spasm, and San Francisco manager Tony Vaitello said Lee would likely be unable to play on the 20th. As Vaitello indicated, Lee did not appear in the starting lineup.
If Lee is sidelined for an extended period, it would be a significant loss for the Giants. However, the team has not placed him on the injured list, which suggests the issue is not believed to be serious.
Barring any setback, Lee is expected to rest and return to the lineup soon.
