K League 2 side Chungnam Asan FC announced on April 17 that it has parted ways with head coach Im Gwan-sik.
Im becomes the first manager to depart across both K League 1 and 2 this season, stepping down five months after his arrival in Asan.
He was appointed Asan’s fourth head coach shortly after last season ended, with the club targeting promotion in 2026. Through six league matches, Asan posted a 3-1-2 record and sat in seventh place.
The split came early in the campaign for personal reasons.
The club said it will work to minimize disruption to the squad and move quickly to name a successor, given how much of the season remains.
Im apologized, saying, “I’m sorry I couldn’t carry on the goals we set together, and I’m especially sorry to the players. I’m stepping down now, but I hope we can work together again someday.”
