On the 27th, Chu Mi-ae’s campaign committee for the Democratic Party welcomed the final settlement in Samsung Electronics’ labor talks and urged an accelerated push to establish a K‑semiconductor cluster in southern Gyeonggi Province.

At a briefing, Park Sang-hyuk, the campaign’s chief spokesperson, said, “Today, Samsung Electronics’ labor-management talks have reached a final settlement. We, along with citizens who waited anxiously, welcome the outcome.”

He praised both labor and management for choosing dialogue and coexistence over confrontation during the negotiations and thanked the Lee Jae-myung administration for putting full effort into mediating the talks to fulfill its responsibility to the national economy.

Park emphasized that the settlement goes beyond a routine labor dispute and is directly tied to the competitiveness of South Korea’s semiconductor industry.

He warned that the negotiation process and its outcome leave many tasks ahead. “Samsung’s gains belong not only to semiconductor workers but also to workers at supplier firms, to shareholders who placed their trust in the company, and to the broader society that has supported it,” he said.

He added that he expects deeper, substantive discussions to follow on Samsung’s social responsibilities.

Park reiterated that preserving South Korea’s “super-gap” lead in the global economic race must remain central to the nation’s industrial strategy.

He called for forceful, rapid action to build the southern Gyeonggi K‑semiconductor cluster, saying the country must marshal its full resources—from stable labor-management relations and bold R&D investment to developing top talent and expanding power, water and transportation infrastructure.

Park Sang-hyuk said, “Chu Mi-ae will work with the Lee Jae-myung administration to further strengthen South Korea’s semiconductor competitiveness and to build a sustainable semiconductor ecosystem in which labor and industry thrive together. She will do her utmost to make Gyeonggi the nation’s semiconductor hub and a driver of future growth.”
