The CEN News / Reporter Lee Ju-sang | Yoo Hee-tae, the Democratic Party nominee for Wanju County mayor, unveiled a \”One Team Wanju\” plan focused on unity and residents’ livelihoods as he launched his campaign for the general election.

At a press conference on April 22, Yoo pledged, \”I will lead Wanju’s resurgence with a united force beyond competition.\” He also apologized to residents who may have been disappointed by excessive negativity during the campaign.
He added, \”I deeply thank the residents who trusted and chose me until the end,\” and stressed, \”Now is the time to show leadership that fosters unity and harmony beyond conflict and differences.\”
He also sent a message to his primary rivals. Yoo offered consolation and encouragement to candidates Lee Don-seung, Seo Nam-yong and Lim Sang-gyu, and thanked Kook Young-seok for putting the party first. He said the policies and visions presented by each candidate are valuable assets for Wanju’s development and vowed to pool their wisdom to build a stronger Wanju.
On policy, Yoo proposed both tangible measures that residents will feel and strategies to nurture future industries. He said he will push for a \”high fuel-price relief fund\” to help residents struggling with rising fuel costs and that he will prioritize policies that directly improve everyday life.
He also said he will build energy self-sufficiency through a \”Sunshine Pension Village\” that shares solar power revenues with residents, and will position Wanju as a high-tech industrial hub by developing a physical AI cluster and an AI data center.
Yoo outlined a comprehensive development strategy that includes creating a hydrogen commercial-mobility industrial zone, establishing a defense innovation cluster, expanding regional transportation networks and logistics hubs, developing new housing for roughly 5,000 households, designating education-specialized districts, expanding the smart-agriculture base, and transforming the area into a city of culture, arts and sports.
Yoo vowed to achieve a \”Mankyung River miracle\” that goes beyond the Miracle on the Han River, saying he will make Wanju a national leader in both economic performance and quality of life.
He concluded, \”Elections should be a festival where policies and visions compete,\” and expressed hope that this race will help move politics beyond negativity toward a culture of hope and unity.
