Donald Trump said, \”If we’re given a little more time, we could easily open the Strait of Hormuz, take the oil and make a lot of money.\”
On the 3rd (local time), Trump posted the comment on Truth Social, writing, \”Wouldn’t that be a gusher of oil for the world?\”
He did not explain how he would restore passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran is currently blocking, nor did he specify what he meant by \”take the oil.\”
The post appears aimed at sending markets an optimistic signal that the Strait’s reopening is near, amid ongoing, high-intensity U.S. strikes against Iran.
In a national address on the 1st, Trump said, \”When this conflict ends, the Strait of Hormuz will naturally reopen. Once oil supplies resume, prices will plunge and stocks will surge.\”
On the 2nd, he said the destructive strikes intended to \”return Iran to the Stone Age\” have \”not even begun,\” and urged that Iran’s new leaders know what needs to happen and that it should happen quickly, pressing again for the Strait’s reopening.
