Unlocking Dae-gu’s Potential: Key Strategies for Urban Improvement and Community Growth
Daniel Kim Views

The People Power Party’s Daegu Jung-gu Nam-gu Party Committee recently concluded its initial round of policy discussions aimed at addressing local long-standing issues and identifying new projects. The committee announced on the 10th that it has begun exploring ways to secure funding and improve systems.
Since December of last year, weekly Saturday meetings have been held, involving Congressman Kim Gi-woong (the party committee chairman) and local city and district council members. These discussions have focused on examining pressing matters directly impacting residents’ lives, such as urban environment enhancement, commercial district revitalization, and expansion of community infrastructure. The committee has also been deliberating on new regional initiatives for the medium and long-term development of Jung-gu and Nam-gu.
The party committee intends to establish a framework for reviewing and organizing policy proposals. This system will facilitate sharing and coordination with relevant government departments, ensuring that the identified initiatives can be effectively implemented to improve residents’ quality of life.
Congressman Kim Gi-woong emphasized that he will focus on consolidating diverse regional opinions and policy suggestions, centered around city and district council members, into practical policy alternatives. He aims to elevate these proposals to discussions at the National Assembly and central government levels.
