[Sports Seoul | Reporter Choi Seung-seop] Singer Hwasa (HWASA) returned to the music scene on April 9 at 6 p.m. with the release of her new digital single “So Cute.”
It’s her first new release in about six months, following last October’s “Good Goodbye.”
Immediately after the song dropped, Hwasa shared a short video on her social media with the caption, “I’ll do my best to tear up cuteness.”
In the clip, she appears in a pink tube-top dress and confidently rips a sheet of paper labeled “So Cute,” flashing a bright smile.
An upbeat dance-pop track, “So Cute” credits Hwasa as both writer and composer, showcasing her musical chops. Her agency said she wanted to step away from the intense image she’s been known for and explore a more personal, quieter inner story.
On the song’s inspiration, Hwasa said, “As I get older, I wanted to express the childlike fear and confusion I feel, and the way I search for a small ray of light.”
Meanwhile, after concluding domestic activities, Hwasa is slated to perform at the major music festival Rock in Rio in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this September. thunder@sportsseoul.com
