[Sports Today reporter Kim Tae-hyung] \”‘Jorimping’ Choi Kang-rok and ‘Sukseongping’ Kim Do-yoon are teaming up for a culinary road trip.\”
SBS premieres its new variety series Ultimate Road: Food Spoiler at 9 p.m. on the 21st.
Ultimate Road: Food Spoiler is a fresh take on the culinary variety format. Seasoned food obsessives crisscross the country, drawing on their experience and meticulous cooking techniques to unearth and reveal long-guarded culinary secrets. Son Jeong-min, known for the series Over-Immersion Life, serves as producer, while Ha Jung-seok, the director behind Masked Chef, directs. On the 9th, an SBS representative told Sports Today that the producer is on staff at SBS, while the directing PD comes from an outside production company.
The lineup includes Choi Kang-rok, a two-time winner of cooking survival competitions, and Kim Do-yoon, a Michelin one-star chef. They’re joined by celebrity foodie Defconn, whose presence deepens the show’s serious culinary conversations.
Rather than simple restaurant rounds, the series focuses on the true sources of flavor scattered across Korea. The team searches for limited-time delicacies tied to specific places and seasons — from mountains and coasts where regional ingredients thrive to farmhouse tables rich with home cooking, atmospheric markets, and the secret kitchens of master cooks.
The show goes further by revealing the chefs’ previously undisclosed, top-tier spots, offering a deeper dive into taste and gastronomy. It aims to deliver the intellectual pleasure of \”the more you know, the better it tastes.\” Though both chefs are known as reserved introverts, insiders say they engaged in heated, no-holds-barred debates over flavor.
Poised to shake up the gourmet-variety landscape, Ultimate Road: Food Spoiler will air following Whenever There’s a Break.
