Kim Sun-young and Kim Woo-hyung: Behind the Scenes of ‘Lempicka’ Musical – A Journey of Love and Resilience

[Sports Today reporter Song O-jeong] Musical actors Kim Sun-young and Kim Woo-hyung, a married couple, opened up about performing together in Lempicka, sharing rehearsal anecdotes and their impressions. They also drew attention when they discussed Kim Sun-young’s injury and her current condition.

On the afternoon of the 26th, Coex Artium’s Woori Bank Hall hosted the press call for the musical Lempicka. After the cast performed highlight scenes, a Q&A followed with composer Matt Gould, playwright Carson Kreitzer, and actors Jo Hyung-kyun, Kim Sun-young, Park Hye-na, LinA, Son Seung-yeon, Kim Woo-hyung, Kim Min-chul, and Kim Hye-mi.

The production, which brings together several of Korea’s musical divas, generated buzz from the casting stage. Fans were especially interested to learn that married couple Kim Woo-hyung and Kim Sun-young would be appearing together in the show.

Kim Woo-hyung, who will share the Lempicka stage with his wife Kim Sun-young, said he often agonizes over role choices. He typically passes on projects that feel too familiar, but he admitted he struggled a lot with this one.

He said that after rehearsals and performances, he felt fortunate to be able to work alongside his wife. Kim suffered an injury at the end of last year and is still in rehabilitation. “As an actor and as her husband, I’m grateful I can be by her side,” he said, expressing his affection for Kim Sun-young.

Lempicka dramatizes the tumultuous life of painter Tamara de Lempicka. The show runs at Coex Artium’s Woori Bank Hall through June 21.
