[Variety] Singer Jang Beom-jun has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late friend and musical collaborator, Park Kyung-gu, who played a pivotal role in shaping his musical journey.
On March 9, Jang shared a video titled “Park Kyung-gu’s Best Live Clips” on his social media account, honoring the memory of his departed friend.The video features Jang performing a medley of their co-created hits, including “Between Hongdae and Konkuk University,” “A Person Worthy of Love,” and “Difficult Woman,” accompanied by his guitar – a poignant musical farewell to his longtime creative partner.
Park Kyung-gu, who led the band Euljinity, passed away on March 7 at the age of 38. While the exact cause of death remains undisclosed, the news, relayed through Park’s cousin, has left the music industry and fans in a state of shock and grief.
Park was an integral figure in Jang’s musical career. The high school friends collaborated on every track of Jang’s solo debut album, and Park’s influence is evident in numerous chart-toppers like “Difficult Woman,” “Blues at Sinpung Station Exit 2,” and “Fallen Leaf Ending.” Renowned in the indie scene for his lyrical prowess and distinctive voice, Park was instrumental in helping Jang forge his unique musical identity post-Busker Busker.
A conversation between the two musicians from last year has added to fans’ sorrow. When Jang released his fourth album, he expressed wishes for Park’s good health. Park responded with an optimistic update, saying, “I’m healthy.”In the wake of Park’s passing, fans have flooded that post with messages of condolence, writing, “Rest in peace, free from pain.”
