U.S. President Donald Trump has again threatened to strike Iran’s Kharg Island and its energy infrastructure.
AFP reported that on March 30 (local time) Trump posted on Truth Social that the administration was engaged in “reasonable negotiations to end Iran’s military operations.” He warned that “we’ve made considerable progress, but if for any reason we do not reach an agreement, we will strike power plants, oil fields and Kharg Island regardless of our intentions.”
He added, “We will finish a decisive operation against Iran by razing desalination plants and other energy facilities we haven’t struck yet,” calling the strikes “retribution for the many of our service members and others killed while the former Iranian regime ruled through terror.”
Earlier, the U.S. deployed 2,500 Marines and 2,500 Navy personnel, raising its force level in the Middle East to more than 50,000. Trump said the additional deployments were aimed “to seize Iran’s oil.”
