3D printing specialist LinkSolution announced on March 3 that it has obtained the KSQ9100 certification, a crucial aerospace quality management system widely regarded as a key requirement for entering the global aerospace industry.
KSQ9100 is the domestic equivalent of AS9100, the international aerospace quality management standard established by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG). It is considered a critical certification required by aerospace and defense companies worldwide during supplier registration processes. Based on the general ISO9001 quality standard, KSQ9100 incorporates additional stringent requirements specific to the aerospace industry, such as product safety, counterfeit prevention, and traceability management, making it notoriously difficult to acquire.
To secure this certification, LinkSolution spent approximately one year upgrading its company-wide quality systems. The company underwent first and second on-site audits by Kiwa Korea, a subsidiary of the global certification body Kiwa Group, in January. After addressing all identified issues last month, LinkSolution finally received the certification.
The certification scope covers “Manufacturing of metal 3D-printed parts for aerospace and defense industries.” This recognition validates LinkSolution’s process management capabilities in implementing and mass-producing customer design requirements using metal additive manufacturing technology. The certification applies to both the Anyang headquarters and Gunpo facility, demonstrating a consistent quality management system across all manufacturing operations.
With this KSQ9100 certification, LinkSolution aims to accelerate its supply of satellite and launch vehicle components as the 3D printing partner within the “Korea Low Earth Orbit Satellite Communications Industry Council (K-LEO Council).” The company also expects to strengthen its position as a “Reliable Source” for allied nations, a designation that has become increasingly important in the global defense market.
Following this certification, the company plans to initiate supplier registration procedures with major domestic and international aerospace and defense firms. LinkSolution intends to combine its Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) technology with the KSQ9100-based quality system to target the next-generation satellite communication and unmanned aerial vehicle parts market.
Choi Geun-sik, CEO of LinkSolution, stated, “The KSQ9100 certification is more than just a qualification. It demonstrates that LinkSolution’s metal 3D printing technology is reliable even in the extreme environments of the aerospace industry. Using our certified production lines in Anyang and Gunpo, we will contribute to the localization of high-precision aircraft parts. Furthermore, through our upcoming Daejeon foundry, we aim to become a key partner in the global space manufacturing market.”
