[Sports Today reporter Kim Tae-hyung] As Yoo Yeon-seok and Esom prepare to clash again over the same case, Kim Kyung-nam’s increasingly suspicious efforts to expose Yoo’s uncanny secret ratchet up the tension.
Episode 5 of SBS’s Friday–Saturday drama Shin I-rang Law Office, airing on the 27th, reunites Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok) — now awakened as a lawyer who specializes in ghosts — and cold-blooded ace Han Na-hyun (Esom) over a case involving a genius scientist allegedly killed by his wife. Jeon Sang-ho (Yoon Na-mu), a brilliant researcher who died after being attacked by an unidentified assailant, appears to Shin. Han Na-hyun takes on the defense of the scientist’s wife, Kim Soo-jung (Jung Ga-hee), who had been acquitted but is back in court after prosecutors filed an appeal.
Han first crossed paths with Shin during the Lee Kang-poong (Heo Sung-tae) and Kim Soo-ah (Oh Ye-ju) case, where she grew unnerved by his knowledge of intimate details that only those involved could know. Shin’s blunt admission — that he can see and converse with the dead and that the deceased confide their injustices to him — prompted her to draw a line, saying she didn’t want to waste any more time entangling herself with him. But when they become involved in the same case once more, she seeks him out again. A production still released ahead of the broadcast captures Shin with the spirit of Jeon Sang-ho at his side, hinting at a charged conversation between Shin and Han Na-hyun.
Yang Do-kyung (Kim Kyung-nam), head of Taebaek Law Firm, has also started watching Shin closely. After suffering two unexpected defeats at the hands of an untested lawyer, Yang launches a background probe into Shin. His curiosity intensifies when imprisoned boss Jo Ki-chul (Park Ki-deok) — arrested after a drug den tied to the Lee Kang-poong case was uncovered — tells him, “That lawyer wasn’t normal. It was Lee Kang-poong,” a claim Yang finds hard to swallow.
Pre-release images show Yang visiting Emma (Cheon Young-min), the real perpetrator in the idol trainee case, at the detention center. If Emma corroborates Jo Ki-chul’s account — saying she saw Shin behave and speak like Kim Soo-ah — Yang will likely pursue the matter relentlessly. Having already dismissed the idea that Shin harbors any supernatural secret, Yang now keeps a close eye on Han Na-hyun, who may be nearest to the truth. Which of these two key players uncovers the truth first will be a major point to watch in upcoming episodes.
The production team teased that tonight’s (27th) episode will feature another tense showdown between Shin I-rang and Han Na-hyun over the husband’s murder. With Yang Do-kyung’s probing moves adding fuel to the mystery, the stakes are expected to rise. Viewers are invited to tune in to learn the full story behind this case, see who uncovers Shin’s secret first, and watch how that revelation reshapes the series’ trajectory.
