[Sports Today reporter Im Si-ryeong] Actor Yoo Seung-mok is preparing for a striking character transformation.
On the 26th, his agency SM C&C confirmed that Yoo has been cast in ENA’s upcoming Monday–Tuesday series ‘Scarecrow.’ The role reunites him with director Park Jun-woo—who previously helmed ‘Model Taxi’ and ‘Crash’—marking their third collaboration.
‘Scarecrow’ centers on a detective hunting a serial killer who finds himself forced into an unlikely partnership with a man he once loathed. The series has already generated buzz for its ensemble cast, which includes Park Hae-soo, Lee Hee-joon, Kwak Sun-young, Song Geon-hee, Seo Ji-hye, Jung Moon-sung, Baek Hyun-jin and Yoo Seung-mok.
Yoo will portray Cha Moo-jin, a former military general turned influential politician and the father of elite prosecutor Cha Si-young (played by Lee Hee-joon). Characterized by authority and icy reserve, Cha Moo-jin is expected to add a tense, commanding presence to the show.
Across television and film, Yoo has built a reputation for memorable, genre-spanning performances in titles such as ‘Mary Kills People,’ ‘Hyper Knife,’ ‘Moving’ and the film ‘Decision to Leave.’ Last year, his nuanced portrayal of corporate executive Baek Sang-mu in JTBC’s hit ‘The Story of Manager Kim — A Big-Corp Executive Who Owns a Home in Seoul’ resonated with many viewers for its authentic depiction of middle-aged men’s realities.
With a strong filmography defined by distinct performances and a commanding screen presence, Yoo’s turn in ‘Scarecrow’ is already drawing anticipation.
ENA’s new Monday–Tuesday series ‘Scarecrow,’ starring Yoo Seung-mok, premieres Monday, April 20 at 10:00 p.m. It will also be available on KT Genie TV and TVING.
