[Sports Today Reporter Jeong Ye-won] Park Min-young squared off against a chillingly unmasked Kim Jeong-hyun.

In episode 7 of tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama Siren, which aired on the 23rd, Han Seol-ah (Park Min-young) and Cha Woo-seok (Wi Ha-joon) peeled back layer after layer of the mystery surrounding Baek Jun-beom (Kim Jeong-hyun), delivering one of the series’ most unsettling cliffhangers to date.

According to Nielsen Korea, episode 7 recorded a nationwide household peak of 4.8% and a Seoul-area household peak of 4.6%, marking its seventh consecutive episode at No. 1 in its time slot across cable and general programming channels. The show also topped the Target 20–49 demo for tvN nationwide among cable and general programming, and led all channels in the Seoul metro area, including terrestrial broadcasters.

That episode followed Han and Cha as they began piecing together the relationship between Baek Jun-beom and Lee Soo-ho (Kim Dong-jun) after learning that Baek had volunteered in Syria alongside Han’s ex, Lee Soo-ho. Their investigation stalled when relief organization team leader Lee Kwang-jin (Do Gyun), who knew about the connection, fell into a coma after a traffic accident. With him incapacitated, Han and Cha had to find other evidence to link Baek and Lee.

An anonymous package sent to Han provided another vital clue. Inside she found a purple bouquet—Lee Soo-ho’s signature—Lee’s phone containing the message “You killed him,” and a birthday card written with a left hand. Those items made Han suddenly recall that Baek Jun-beom was left-handed.

Han shared the discovery with Cha. To lure the real perpetrator, Cha took out a life insurance policy naming Han as beneficiary, mirroring how some of Han’s past partners had behaved. When Han admitted she feared losing someone again after seeing the policy, Cha opened up about his late sister and explained why he was so driven to see the case through, persuading her to go along with the plan.

The two bonded over a shared trauma—the guilt of failing to protect loved ones—and a strong trust grew between them. When Han reached out, worried he might get hurt, Cha drew her in and kissed her. She responded, and their relationship moved closer.

Just as their connection deepened, they learned that Lee Kwang-jin had regained consciousness. He confirmed that Baek and Lee had been friends. Convinced that Baek might be exacting revenge on Han in Lee’s stead, Han and Cha decided to probe him further.

While Cha searched for evidence tying Baek to the attempted murder of Lee Kwang-jin, Han set up a sting and confronted Baek directly under the pretense of a VIP preview invitation. She pressed him about the artwork he had consigned, “Orphans of Syria,” and his ties to Lee Soo-ho, taunting, “Why don’t you take off that mask now?”

At the mention of Lee Soo-ho, Baek’s expression snapped. He countered, “Do you think I’m taking revenge for him?” and closed the distance with a crazed look that left viewers stunned. Even as he advanced as if to strike, Han held her ground without flinching, creating a tense, combustible moment. The episode leaves viewers wondering why Baek hid his friendship with Lee Soo-ho and what his true motives are.

Episode 8 of Siren, which digs deeper into the tangled history between Park Min-young and Kim Jeong-hyun’s characters, airs on the 24th at 8:50 p.m.
