Veteran actor Yoo Ji-tae recently took to YouTube to promote his latest film through an unconventional dumpling mukbang.
On October 9, popular YouTuber Tzuyang’s channel featured a video titled “Feeding Yoo Ji-tae, who has eaten only dumplings for 15 years,” drawing immediate attention from fans.
The video captured a charming interaction between Tzuyang and Yoo Ji-tae, with both displaying genuine curiosity about each other. Tzuyang, who initially channeled the intense character Oh Dae-su from the cult classic “Oldboy,” quickly softened upon meeting the affable Yoo Ji-tae in person.

During the mukbang, Yoo Ji-tae expressed admiration for Tzuyang’s YouTube success. “It’s incredible,” he remarked. “None of my films have hit ten million views yet. My highest is five million. I’m hoping to surpass that with my new film, ‘The Man Who Lives with the King.'”
When the dumplings arrived, Yoo Ji-tae revealed his preference for boiled over fried dumplings, citing the latter’s greasiness. In a humorous nod to his “Oldboy” co-star, the screen flashed a photo of Choi Min-sik with the caption “My health…”
Reflecting on his 28-year acting career, Yoo Ji-tae shared, “I’m passionate about cinema and constantly strive to improve my craft.” On the topic of portraying villains, he offered a thoughtful perspective: “While a character who harms others is inherently villainous, it’s when a film truly mirrors life that its depth becomes apparent.”

The actor also shared an amusing anecdote following the release of Disney+’s original series “Vigilante,” where he was mistaken for a real gangster. “I was approached in a bathhouse, and when I explained I was an actor, they requested a photo. Mind you, I was completely naked at the time,” he recalled with a laugh.
Teasing the finale of “The Man Who Lives with the King,” Yoo Ji-tae revealed, “There’s a pivotal scene where Danjong plays by the water. The director actually modified it on set after witnessing Park Ji-hoon’s performance. It’s a testament to the director’s adaptability and vision.”
In a lighthearted moment, Yoo Ji-tae offered to treat Tzuyang, known for her legendary 130-plate sushi feast, to a sushi dinner. He quickly reconsidered, exclaiming, “Oh no!” Tzuyang responded with a smile, “It’s rare for someone to offer to buy me a meal.”
