Variety – A malicious rumor has surfaced alleging a rift between Gu Jun-yeop and his late wife Seo Hee-won’s mother over her 400 billion KRW (approximately 300 million USD) estate.
On February 10th, Taiwanese outlet ET Today reported that Seo’s mother and Gu are locked in a bitter dispute over the inheritance.
Refuting these claims, Seo’s mother stated, “I abhor lawsuits that only bring pain and waste money. I consider Gu Jun-yeop my son. He loved Hee-won deeply and respects me, and I love him in return.”
Seo’s younger brother, Hee-je, also voiced his disgust, saying, “Those spreading such rumors have sinister motives and truly wicked hearts.”
He added, “My brother-in-law gave my sister the purest love and brought her genuine happiness. We will be eternally grateful to him. He is family, and we will protect him, never causing him harm. Please cease spreading these baseless rumors.”
Seo Hee-won tragically passed away from acute pneumonia during a family trip to Japan last February. Reports suggest Gu visits her grave at Geumbosan Cemetery daily to tend to her tombstone. A memorial service marking the first anniversary of Seo’s passing was held on February 2nd.
