[Variety] Actor Yoo Ji-tae teamed up with mukbang sensation Tzuyang for an epic dumpling feast.
On March 9th, Tzuyang’s YouTube channel dropped a video titled “I Fed Dumplings to Yoo Ji-tae, Who’s Only Eaten Them for 15 Years,” showcasing their mouthwatering collaboration.
Yoo Ji-tae famously portrayed Lee Woo-jin in Park Chan-wook’s 2003 cult classic “Oldboy.” In the film, Lee imprisons the protagonist Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik) for 15 years, feeding him nothing but dumplings.
The duo recreated this iconic scenario at a 40-year-old dumpling joint in Seoul, paying homage to the film’s infamous dumpling-eating scenes.
Tzuyang, boasting a staggering 13 million subscribers, introduced Yoo as “the guy you think of when it comes to dumplings.” Yoo, seemingly starstruck, quipped, “Thirteen million is no joke. I’ve never hit 10 million viewers; my best is 5 million.” He then plugged his latest flick, “The King’s Man,” aiming to break his personal record. In a surprising twist, Yoo confessed his preference for boiled dumplings over the fried variety.
The actor also dished on his “Vigilante” days, revealing he packed on the pounds with a whopping 800 grams each of carbs and protein. “I’ve dabbled in mukbang myself,” Yoo admitted. “Tried to boost my subscriber count, you know?”
Tzuyang playfully challenged Yoo, “But you couldn’t do this for 15 years, right?” Yoo, patting his stomach, laughed, “Too greasy for that long!” He then turned the tables, joking that Tzuyang was channeling Oh Dae-su, ready to devour 15 years’ worth of dumplings in one sitting.
Meanwhile, Yoo’s latest star turn as Han Myung-hoe in “The King and the Man” is already making waves, topping the box office and hitting the million-viewer mark in just five days.
