Sangju City in North Gyeongsang Province wrapped up a lobby makeover at the Nakdong River History Story Center earlier this month.
The update turns the former exhibit-style gallery into a family-focused, hands-on space. The lobby now features a cozy, camping-style lounge where visitors can relax.
New attractions include interactive virtual sports simulators and a Nakdong River photo booth. The simulators let visitors try indoor versions of soccer, basketball, archery, shooting and skiing, while the photo booth is a self-serve, selfie-friendly setup.
Last year, the Nakdong River History Story Center welcomed 44,576 visitors; this year it has already drawn 37,505 people in the first quarter alone.
Sangju plans to build on the renovation and new attractions to position the center as a family-friendly destination where hands-on experiences and relaxation come together.
“The Nakdong River History Story Center has evolved from a simple viewing facility into an interactive destination where families can linger and have fun,” said Oh Joo-hyeok, head of Sangju City’s Tourism Promotion Division.
