Austria & Czech Republic: 7-night, 9-day self-guided itinerary

Austria
Austria & Czech Republic 7-night, 9-day itinerary

This itinerary is recommended because it’s incredibly efficient for arrivals and departures. Fly nonstop from Incheon to Vienna and leave from Prague, which keeps your travel logistics clean and maximizes time on the ground.

The Vienna–Prague leg is easy: take a direct RegioJet or ÖBB train and you’ll be there in roughly four hours. Both cities are well connected to their central stations, so if you book hotels near the hubs or main sights, getting around is straightforward.

Vienna & Hallstatt — 3 nights

Enjoy
Enjoy Vienna & Hallstatt

Vienna, Austria’s capital, wears its Habsburg heritage proudly—think grand architecture and timeless elegance. Three nights gives you enough time to hit the essentials: Schönbrunn Palace, the Hofburg, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Don’t miss Klimt’s The Kiss at the Belvedere, and if you can, book an evening at the State Opera for a truly Viennese night out.

Set aside one day for a Hallstatt day trip. The lakeside village—listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site—takes about four hours by train from Vienna. The travel time is worth it for the postcard-perfect scenery.

Hallstatt is a magnet for couples and honeymooners thanks to its picture-perfect views. If the transit feels long, consider a route via Salzburg or join a local tour to make the visit more relaxed.

Prague & Český Krumlov — 4 nights

Prague
Prague & Český Krumlov trip

Prague’s historic core is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and honestly, you don’t need a jam-packed schedule—wandering the streets delivers the vibe. Over four nights you can comfortably walk to Old Town Square, catch the Astronomical Clock, and explore Prague Castle. The nighttime views of Charles Bridge and the castle are unforgettable. Also, seek out tucked-away gems like the John Lennon Wall and the Golden Lane.

Plan a day trip to Český Krumlov while you’re based in Prague. A bus ride of about three hours takes you to a town where the Vltava River winds around medieval rooftops—utterly storybook. If Prague feels grand and theatrical, Český Krumlov is intimate and charming.

Climb the Český Krumlov Castle tower for sweeping views—one glance from above can deepen your appreciation of Central Europe.

Great for honeymooners, families, and backpackers

Great
Great for honeymoons, family trips, backpacking, and couples’ getaways

The beauty of this 7-night, 9-day Austria–Czech self-guided trip is its versatility. Whether you’re chasing romance, dramatic night scenes, storybook lakes, or good value, this route works for honeymooners, family groups, and independent backpackers alike.

That roughly four-hour train between Vienna and Prague can become a highlight—soak in the scenery and treat it as part of the journey. Book hotels near central stations or major attractions to minimize lugging heavy suitcases around.

From opulent palaces to cozy, winding alleys, this Vienna & Hallstatt and Prague & Český Krumlov itinerary compresses a lot of variety into one efficient trip. Use it as a framework to create a travel experience that’s uniquely yours.
