As local festivals shift from one-off events into stay-and-stay tourism experiences, Hwasun County has decided to extend its spring flower displays to meet ongoing visitor demand.
Hwasun County announced it will keep the main exhibits of the 2026 Hwasun Spring Flower Festival open through May 10, instead of closing on the originally scheduled date of April 26. The extension applies to the spring flower viewing stretch along Kkotgang-gil in Hwasun-eup (Hwasun Town).
Branded \”Spring Flower Night Walk,\” the festival pairs fields of canola and a mix of spring blooms with sculptures and photo zones to create themed, Instagram-friendly spaces. Officials estimate roughly 100,000 people visited during the opening weekend, and visitor traffic has continued since then.
Expecting that demand for the displays will persist after the festival’s original end date, the county extended operations while preserving the core installations. Some interactive booths and performances will conclude, but main attractions like the musical fountain and major sculptures will remain on view.
During the extension period, staff will replenish bedding plants, inspect facilities and carry out environmental maintenance to keep the viewing experience pleasant. Officials also cite maintaining flower health amid rising temperatures as a key management priority.
