Gangneung, in Gangwon Province, is heading to the Korea Representative Festival Expo to showcase its signature festivals and tourism highlights.
From the 17th to the 19th, the city will operate a standalone promotional booth at the expo, held at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi Province.
Rather than just handing out information, the city is bringing hands-on, participatory experiences so attendees can feel the spirit of Gangneung’s festivals for themselves.
On site, an interactive event titled “How Well Do You Know Gangneung?!” lets visitors scan a QR code to take a festival quiz and try a nostalgic prize grab. Participants can win Gangneung gift sets, coffee, yakgwa (a traditional Korean cookie), portable tissues, umbrellas and other items.
The booth will also feature QR-linked festival posters and seasonal travel content—like the Gangneung Danoje Festival and recommended April getaways—so visitors can see Gangneung travel information at a glance.
Eom Geum-mun, head of the city’s Tourism Policy Division, said, “We hope the on-site experience becomes a lasting memory that brings Gangneung to mind. We’re using the expo to boost our festivals’ appeal so that curiosity turns into real visits.”
