Cheongju City’s smart tourism platform, ‘Cheongju-Yeogi,’ topped 90,000 subscribers just 2 years and 9 months after launching.
On the 16th, the city reported the app had reached 90,300 subscribers and recorded 136,411 cumulative downloads. The platform brings together attraction listings, restaurants, lodging, and transportation information to make travel easier for both residents and visitors.
Its user base has grown steadily thanks to features that fit everyday life: location-based recommendations, real-time bus tracking, and hands-on experience content. Officials note that personalized information powered by public data, app-exclusive perks, and interactive features have helped set it apart from private platforms and attract more users.
Since its official July 2023 launch, Cheongju-Yeogi has built smart tourism services centered on the old downtown area anchored by the Cultural Manufacturing Complex and other key tourist sites. The city continues to drive app management and service activation through its ‘Smart Tourism City Development’ project.
Leveraging the 90,000-subscriber milestone, the city plans to further refine app features and keep expanding tourism content to improve user satisfaction. It will also intensify event-linked promotions to accelerate progress toward 100,000 subscribers.
A city official said, “Cheongju-Yeogi has become more than a tourism guide — it’s a lifestyle platform used by both residents and visitors. We will keep improving service quality so anyone can use it easily and conveniently.”
Users can find Cheongju-Yeogi on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store to download and register for free. The city expects the platform to continue contributing to tourism growth and citizen convenience and to reach more users as it evolves.
