Jeju Air is launching a twice-weekly trial route between Incheon and Jeju on May 12, giving travelers more domestic options. This reopening is notable — it restores a regular Incheon–Jeju service that was suspended in 2016, a decade ago. The new connection will make it easier for international visitors arriving at Incheon International Airport and for residents of Incheon and northwest Gyeonggi to get to Jeju. Jeju Air will operate the trial through Aug. 7, then evaluate demand and operational efficiency before deciding whether to convert the route to a regular service or extend the trial.

Under the schedule, flights depart Jeju International Airport at 3:55 p.m. and arrive at Incheon International Airport at 5:10 p.m. The return flight leaves Incheon at 6:05 p.m. and lands in Jeju at 7:25 p.m. On the first day of service, May 12, flights will operate in the morning. Operating days change by period: through May 30 the service runs on Tuesdays and Saturdays; from June 1 until the end of the trial it shifts to Mondays and Fridays.
The route strengthens connections with international flights at Incheon International Airport. Until now, travelers arriving at Incheon who wanted to continue on to Jeju had to take the airport railroad or a bus to Gimpo Airport — an inconvenient transfer. With this new nonstop link, passengers can check in for domestic flights inside Incheon and board for Jeju without moving between airports. That smoother connection should make it easier for international visitors to include Jeju on their itineraries, which could boost tourism on the island.

The service also improves options for Jeju residents planning long-haul travel. If island residents align their plans with long-haul international departures from Incheon to destinations like North America or Europe, they can avoid the previous hassle of flying to Gimpo and then traveling overland. A direct link from Jeju to Incheon means smoother transfers to international flights. And for people in Incheon and northwest Gyeonggi who find Incheon Airport more convenient than Gimpo, this route creates an attractive new way to get to Jeju.
To celebrate the launch, Jeju Air is running a ticket promotion from April 1 to 19. One-way fares start at 13,100 KRW (about $9.83), including fuel surcharges and airport facility fees. The airline is also offering a discount code worth up to 10,000 KRW (about $7.50) for round-trip purchases. For Family Month in May, Jeju Air will waive child fares for all children on a reservation of three or more people — as long as the group includes at least one child aged 2 to under 12 and departs in May.

Jeju Air also led low-cost carriers in passenger numbers for January and February. According to the Aviation Information Portal System, the carrier carried 2,244,191 passengers from January through February this year, a 27.5% increase from 1,760,402 in the same period last year. Load factors were strong: 94.5% for domestic flights and 91.3% for international flights, both above the LCC industry averages of 90.9% domestic and 89.2% international. Those figures suggest Jeju Air is running an efficient operation across its domestic and international networks.
With rising costs for overseas travel, many people are opting for more affordable domestic trips — a trend Jeju Air can capitalize on. If the Incheon–Jeju route gains traction, it will offer real convenience for Incheon Airport users and likely spur new travel demand. Industry watchers say the move is aimed at creating fresh demand while improving customer convenience. If operations stay steady and public response is positive, this route could become a key air link supporting regional economic activity and tourism growth.
