Florence is one of those cities where sunlight pours over terracotta roofs and everything seems to glow. You can hunt for a designer bag at The Mall, but what really sticks with you after a trip is that one perfect photo that levels up your social media.

We’re sharing Florence photo spots where an iPhone can deliver pro-looking results—no bulky DSLR needed. These are the hip, mood-driven locations for travelers who want to skip the cookie-cutter tourist shots.

Early morning in front of the Duomo

Piazza del Duomo fills with tourists by day. To capture a clean Florence shot, set your alarm for 6 a.m. When the lights just switch off and the dawn casts a cool bluish glow, the square becomes your private studio.

The Duomo’s façade is massive, so fitting a person into the frame is tricky. Instead, slip into the narrow side alley Via dei Servi. Framing the dome as it peeks between buildings amplifies Florence’s medieval charm.

Use your iPhone’s Portrait mode (around f/2.8) to keep the subject crisp while the grand dome in the background softens into a cinematic blur.

※For outfits, choose light beige or white tones rather than gray.

Yes, it’s iconic and can feel cliché, but there’s no better place to capture all of Florence in a single frame.

Skip the central staircase and head down to the Giardino delle Rose (Rose Garden). There you can frame the city with flowers in the foreground and avoid the crowds. The magic moment is about 30 minutes before sunset, when the light turns golden.

※When shooting with the sunset behind you, lower your iPhone’s exposure slightly. Your subject will render as a silhouette while Florence’s red roofs pop with color.

Arno River & Ponte Vecchio

Photos shot from Ponte Vecchio rarely show the bridge itself. The best vantage is from Ponte Santa Trinita, which faces the Vecchio head-on.

Perch casually on the railing and apply a slightly cool saturation filter on your iPhone. The Arno’s blue ripples contrasted with the bridge’s classic lines creates a polished, sophisticated look. At night, lower the exposure a bit to let the streetlights bloom.

※For night shots, brace your iPhone against the railing and set Night mode exposure to about 2–3 seconds.

Oltrarno alleyways

Your truest Florence shots happen across the river in Oltrarno. With the tourist noise gone, the weathered walls and vintage bicycles become perfect props. Capture a casual walking sequence for authentic, lived-in vibes.

Turn on Live Photos so you can later pick the most natural instant. A single image from here will have people DM-ing, “Where in Florence was this taken?”

Florence rewards slow, unhurried wandering with its best photos. Grab your iPhone, soak in the warm light, and expect to take home a Renaissance-tinged shot that feels like a lifelong memory.
