A luxury Lizzo resort in Hainan, China is drawing attention after guests reported rats appearing in their room.
According to Hong Kong’s Sing Tao Daily on the 19th, guest Chi Mo says he and his family stayed last month at the resort in Lingshui County when a rat turned up in their room in the middle of the night.
He says he heard a strange noise around 1 a.m. near the head of the bed and discovered rats gnawing on wiring and wood.
His elderly parents and young children were in the room, and the family says they couldn’t sleep; the rodents reportedly kept moving around until morning.
The next day, hotel staff reportedly caught one large rat and two baby rats.
The resort blamed lapses in pest-control management and offered to move the family to another room.
Chi refused, saying he would never return to the Lizzo Resort. He rejected the resort’s voucher offer and filed a complaint with authorities.
The room in question is a two-bedroom villa with a private pool. The nightly rate is CNY 9,800 (about 2.12 million KRW, about $1,424 USD).
Chi is demanding a full refund and additional compensation. The resort says it stands by its position, and the dispute is ongoing, the paper reported.
