[Herald Economy (Suncheon)=Reporter Park Dae-seong] KORAIL’s Jeonnam Headquarters, based in Suncheon, is rolling out a special discount promotion for “2026 Travel Month” (April 1–May 31) to help travelers soak up the spring vibes of Korea’s southern provinces.
In partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, KORAIL will run the Namdo Marine Train (S-Train) at half price — a straight 50% discount.
To make rail travel even more affordable, KORAIL is offering a flat KRW 20,000 discount on the “Naeillo Pass” (about $15.00). Even bolder: customers who book the “KORAIL Local Love Free-Travel” package and confirm visits to attractions using QR codes will receive ticket coupons worth 100% of their rail fare.
Major festivals in the Jeonnam region this spring include the Boseong Dahyang Tea Festival (May 1–5), the Yeosu Turtle Ship Festival (May 1–3), and the Gokseong World Rose Festival (May 22–31).
Travelers can take the train to the closest station and then hop a shuttle to the festival site or walk there easily.
The S-Train, which runs across the Jeolla and Gyeongjeon lines, is more than just transportation. It features themed cabins — such as a tea ceremony room and family seating — so passengers can experience southern Korean culture on the journey.
Discounted tickets can be booked through KorailTalk or KORAIL’s website through May 31, and are valid for travel from April 1 to May 31. The promotion may end early if the budget runs out.
