This Lunar New Year, Gangjin County is betting on a surge of homecomings. They’re anticipating more locals will invite family and friends to celebrate in their hometown, swapping far-flung destinations for a cozy Gangjin getaway.
The Half-Price Travel program has taken off like wildfire since its debut just three weeks ago. A whopping 4,055 groups have already gotten the green light for their applications. Of these, 1,304 groups have explored Gangjin, dropping about 411.68 million KRW (308,760 USD) in the local economy. The program has pumped roughly 191.56 million KRW (143,670 USD) back into visitors’ pockets via mobile gift certificates, giving the local economy a much-needed boost.
